Kevin De Bruyne leaves the club
Next step for Manchester City
Manchester City's midfield star Kevin De Bruyne, 33, will leave the club after a successful ten-year period. According to reports, it was coach Pep Guardiola who made the decision to end the collaboration, even though De Bruyne was willing to stay in a different role. Guardiola and the club management felt it was time to move on, especially considering De Bruyne's recent injury problems and dip in form.
Several clubs have shown interest in De Bruyne, including Saudi Al-Ittihad and Al Nassr. Reports suggest that Al-Ittihad has already reached an agreement with the player on personal terms, but a transfer fee between the clubs remains to be negotiated.
To fill the void left by De Bruyne, Manchester City is turning its attention to Bayer Leverkusen's 21-year-old midfielder Florian Wirtz. Wirtz has had an impressive season with 18 goals and 19 assists in 46 matches, making him an attractive replacement. However, Leverkusen's price tag of around 150 million euros could pose a challenge for City.
Manchester City is facing a significant change as one of the club's most prominent players leaves. How the team will adapt and what further reinforcements might be forthcoming remains to be seen.
Kevin De Bruyne, born on June 28, 1991, in Drongen, Belgium, has established himself as one of the world's foremost offensive midfielders. His career is marked by technical brilliance, exceptional game understanding, and an ability to deliver decisive passes and goals.
De Bruyne's professional career began at KRC Genk, where he became a key player in the team that won the Belgian league title in the 2010/11 season. His impressive performances attracted interest from larger European clubs, and in 2012 he signed for Chelsea FC. After limited playing time in London and a successful loan period at German Werder Bremen, De Bruyne moved permanently to VfL Wolfsburg in January 2014. In Wolfsburg, he flourished and was named Player of the Year in the Bundesliga for the 2014/15 season.
In August 2015, De Bruyne was signed by Manchester City. Since then, he has been a central figure in the team's successes, including several Premier League titles and other domestic cups. His ability to create scoring opportunities is unmatched; he has made over 100 assists in the Premier League and was a key player in the team's historic treble season 2022/23, when City won the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.
