Legend in heated exchange with supporter
And a heavy start for the new manager at Manchester United..
Manchester United and Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town ended 1–1, yesterday Sunday.
After the final whistle, club icon and current TV pundit Roy Keane got into a heated argument with a supporter.
– I'll meet you in the car park, Keane is said to have stated.
Ruben Amorim, who recently left Sporting and the Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, made his debut for Manchester United yesterday.
The team's first match under his management was an away game against Ipswich Town, and it started promisingly for the visitors.
Already in the second minute of the match, Marcus Rashford scored 1–0, giving the team an early advantage. Manchester United, who had sacked Erik ten Hag earlier this autumn, seemed to have control of the game.
But Ipswich did not give up. Just before the halftime break, Omari Hutchinson equalized, and despite several chances from both teams, the score remained 1–1 until the final whistle.
After the match, tensions escalated off the field. During a break in Sky Sports' broadcast, Roy Keane, former United captain and now TV pundit, got into an exchange of words with an Ipswich supporter.
According to Daily Mail, the supporter had shouted insults at Keane, which led the 53-year-old Irishman to react strongly. Security staff had to intervene and removed Keane before he could return to his TV duties.
Roy Keane, who played 326 matches for Manchester United, is a well-known figure in English football. He was also the manager of Ipswich Town between 2009 and 2011, adding extra drama to the incident.
